Simon captured his first 'serious' images whilst studying Photography A Level at school. He funded his way through university by shooting weddings, snapping actors for Spotlight and photographing his campus for the university prospectus.
Having qualified as an English and Drama teacher, photography became more of a hobby rather than a second vocation; his work mainly comprised of Production Photographs for local theatre groups, coverage for school events, as well as the occasional wedding or formal function.
In 2002, Simon began teaching Media Studies and instantly became hooked on digital photography and the creative opportunities it opened up. Photoshop was like manna from heaven but he remained a 35mm purist until digital technology was able to seriously rival film.
Five years and four digital cameras later, he is now teaching Digital Photography and Photoshop skills to GCSE, and A level Media students, as well as running evening classes for adults.
Simon lives in Hertfordshire with his wife and twin sons, shoots on a Nikon D200 and still can't bear to part with his Olympus OM10.
